Mangalore, Sep 18: The State minister for higher education D H Shankaramurthy has assured that grants for the 36 degree colleges in the state which had been issued show-cause notice would not be withdrawn.
According to a press release, a delegation from the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) on Sunday September 17 placed a memorandum before the minister that included various demands of the college teachers.
Responding to the demands, the minister said that the needs of the teachers will be considered with sympathy. The officials have already been directed to settle the issues at the department level.
Regarding the issue of placements of teachers, the minister said that the placements would be given from the date of appointment and not from the date of completion of the orientation course.
The government has also assured of lifting the ban on recruitment in colleges.
The delegation also met deputy chief minister B S Yediyurappa and submitted a memorandum urging for the release of long-due UGC scale arrears of teachers.
