Pakistani Taliban claims responsibility for attack on dockyard

Islamabad, Sep 9 (IANS): The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Tuesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a naval dockyard in Karachi, in which a navy officer and two militants were killed.

A Pakistani Navy spokesman said late Monday that security forces had Saturday foiled the attack on the Karachi Naval Dockyard that resulted in the capture of four militants, Xinhua reported.

Six navy officials were also injured in the attack.

"TTP claims responsibility for the attack on the Karachi Dockyard," the Taliban spokesman, Shahdullah Shahid said.

He said the TTP will release more details later.

The navy spokesman said the security personnel and weapons and explosives from the suspects were recovered.

He said the security forces also arrested some terrorists during raids in parts of the country on the information extracted from the arrested attackers.
