Rijiju to attend world reconstruction meet in Washington

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS): Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju will lead the Indian delegation at the second World Reconstruction Conference (WRC2) that begins in Washington Wednesday.

"Rijiju will lead the Indian delegation and will be a panellist in the opening plenary on 'political economy of recovery: why resilient recovery is an imperative for the development agenda' and will share the various measures being taken by the government in disaster recovery," said a statement from the home ministry Tuesday.

The WRC2 aims to build consensus on resilient recovery as an imperative for sustainable development, poverty reduction and shared prosperity, and to share innovative approaches for post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.

Rijiju will also address the think tank of America, academicians and the Indian diaspora on the sidelines of the conference to be held Sep 10-12.
