Bhushan Steel official seeks bail, CBI's reply sought

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS): Bhushan Steel Ltd. vice-chairman Neeraj Singhal, accused in Syndicate Bank bribery case, Tuesday moved a bail application in a court here.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma has asked the investigating agency to file its response to Singhal's bail application by Sep 17.

The court Monday rejected the bail applications of Arun Agarwal and Vijay Pahuja, who were close associate of Syndicate Bank chairman-cum-managing director S.K. Jain, another accused in the case.

The CBI arrested Jain Aug 2 for allegedly taking Rs.50 lakh in bribe for raising the credit limit of some companies in violation of banking rules. Singhal was arrested Aug 7.
