Udupi, Sep 19: In a heart-rending incidence, a new-born baby was found dead in a coconut garden adjacent to Kaup beach here on Monday September 18.
The baby was almost in decomposed state in one Krishnappa Salian's coconut garden. The body does not have any limbs below the waist and it is suspected that stray dogs might have eaten the legs and thighs of the infant.
This has made it difficult even to know the sex of the child. Though it is said that the child might have been the result of unwanted or pre-marital pregnancy nothing is known about the woman who delivered the baby. It is also difficult to determine as whether it is a local case or someone had thrown the child into the sea after the birth.
Locals are of the opinion that the dogs might have pulled the body to the coconut garden from the sea shore. The autopsy has already been carried out in the Kaup Primary Health Centre.
Kaup police have registered a case in this regard.
