Pakistani smuggler uted in Saudi Arabia


Riyadh, Sep 10 (IANS): A Pakistani has been executed in Saudi Arabia for smuggling large quantity of heroin.

Kamran Ghulam Abbas was found guilty of smuggling drugs in the nation's Eastern province, the interior ministry said in a statement. He was executed Tuesday in the Khobar Governorate, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Abbas was convicted by the General Court and the sentence was endorsed by Appeal and Supreme Courts following which a royal order was issued to execute the sentence.

Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is keen on combating narcotics due to their enormous harm to individuals and the society, warning anyone who tries to commit such actions that he will be punished according to Sharia (Islamic law), the ministry added.
