Udupi: Sep 19: Dr Ramkishore Rai (55), a prominent citizen, medical practitioner and district Home Guards commandant Dr.Ramkishore Rai (55) died of sudden cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning at his Brahmagiri residence.
Dr Rai, while on his morning walk, collapsed and died as a result of a heart attack.
A doctor by profession, he was running a clinic at Kemmannu near Udupi and also owned the Manjunatha Petrol Pump in front of Govinda Kalyana Mantapa in the city.
The late Dr Rai is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
On hearing the news, the superintendent of police and the deputy commissioner of Udupi and several other officials expressed grief over his death and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.

The funeral was to take place in the evening on Tuesday, after the arrival of Dr Rai's son from Bangalore. His arrival was reportedly delayed because of a roadblock on way from Bangalore.
However, the police and the home-guards had to complete the gun-salute before sunset as per rules.
