Bantwal: Bus-­bike accident; woman dies, husband serious

Bantwal, Sep 11: After a bus hit a motor bike at Mani Junction near here on Wednesday September 10, a lady died while her husband continues to be in serious condition. However, the child of the couple, which was also involved in the accident, is out of danger, it is gathered.

Yogeesh Bhandary (40) from Boliyar village in the taluk, was moving in his motor bike along with wife, Pavitra Bhandary (35) and daughter Prapti (3) when tragedy struck. Both Pavitra and Yogeesh, who were seriously injured and Prapthi, whose nature of injuries were minor in nature, were shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore after the accident. In spite of treatment provided to her, Pavitra did not respond positively and breathed her last. Yogeesh continues to be in serious condition, while the child is out of danger, hospital sources said.

The accident had occurred after a private bus moving towards Puttur from the direction of Mangalore was taking a right turn to move on Mani-­Mysore road and hit a motor bike coming from the direction of Uppinangady at Mani Junction.
