New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS): A court here Thursday reserved its order on the CBI's application for permission to examine some more people as prosecution witnesses in the 2G allocation case against former telecom minister A. Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and others.
Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini reserved his order on the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) plea for directions to summon Enforcement Directorate (ED) deputy director Rajeshwar Singh and others as prosecution witnesses on Sep 17.
The investigating agency August moved an application seeking to examine more witnesses, saying some fresh facts have emerged in the probe conducted by the ED. The ED had filed a separate charge sheet against 19 accused in a money laundering case related to the 2G spectrum allocation case.
According to the CBI, Raja was biased while distributing 2G mobile airwaves and operating licences to telecom firms, causing a huge loss to the state exchequer.
The court framed charges Oct 22, 2011, against 14 accused and three companies under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, faking documents, abusing official position, criminal misconduct by public servant and taking bribe.
The court had Wednesday fixed Nov 10 for hearing the final arguments in the case.
All the accused, including Raja, are out on bail.
