Bangalore, Sep 12: Through a resolution passed at its special general body meeting, Advocates Association of Bangalore (AAB) has urged for the transfer of state high court Chief Justice (CJ), Justice D H Waghela, to any other high court, alleging that he has failed in administrative matters.

The special general body meeting was held here on Thursday September 11. After collecting opinion from advocates present at the meeting, its president, K N Subba Reddy, moved this resolution. The AAB noted that the CJ had not taken any bold administrative decisions, never
visited subordinate courts, did not take initiatives to fill 17 vacant posts of judges in the high court and 171 vacancies of civil judges in other courts and so on. A number of advocates also expressed resentment at the way of functioning of the CJ relating to hearing of cases. AAB said that the CJ owns negative attitude towards cases and hence he should be transferred to other courts and he should be replaced with a new CJ.

The association also passed resolution demanding appointment of judges to the high court from AAB. Subba Reddy said AAB would write to CJI and others on this issue. The general body also sought shifting of a number of tribunals from Chennai to the city.
