Compounder held guilty of molesting woman patient

New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS): A court here has convicted a compounder of a private clinic for outraging the modesty of a woman patient on the pretext of checking her blood pressure.

Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Parihar in her order delivered Wednesday convicted Jeevan, who was working as a compounder in a private clinic in Patparganj of east Delhi, on the charges of outraging the modesty of a woman.

According to the prosecution, the woman visited the clinic Oct 20, 2009, around 11.30 a.m.

At that time, the doctor was not available. Jeevan asked the victim to come inside the clinic cabin and lie on the bed for check-up. On the pretext of checking blood pressure, he molested her.

Following a complaint, police filed charge sheet March 29, 2010, and the court framed charges May 23, 2011.

However, Jeevan pleaded not guilty and claimed a false case was lodged because an altercation had taken place between them regarding payment of fees.

"It is hard to believe that complainant would put her honour and reputation at stake for a trivial issue like payment of fees and thus, there is no reason as to why the complainant would falsely implicate the accused," the court said.

It added that the defence raised by accused is baseless and held the prosecution has succeeded in establishing its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court will hear argument on quantum of sentence Sep 16.
