Pyongyang, Sep 15 (IANS): North Korea has condemned a celebration to commemorate the Incheon Landing Operation during the 1950-53 Korean war. The event will be jointly organised Monday by South Korea and the US.
North Korea blamed the US and South Korean authorities for "wrecking dialogue, disturbing peace and igniting a war on the Korean Peninsula" by holding such a ceremony to mark the 64th anniversary of Incheon Landing, Xinhua reported.
According to South Korean officials, some 2,200 people, including war veterans, military officers, and citizens will join the commemoration and also a re-enactment of the operation will be carried out.
The Incheon Landing Operation, code named Operation Chromite, was a land and water battle which started Sep 15, 1950 and led to the recapture of Seoul two weeks later.
The battle ended with the invasion of North Korean People's Army (NKPA).
