Mangalore, Sep 26: No sooner has the Kudroli abattoir been opened, than members of the Gosamarakshana Samiti took to streets protesting against the move on Monday September 25 here.
The protesters took a procession from Urwa Marigudi temple and Baikampady cirle and gathered in front of the office of Pollution Control Board at Baikampady Industrial area here.
Bajrang Dal state convener Mahendra Kumar and Moodbidri BJP secretary Sukhananda Tantri, while addressing the protesters, said that the Pollution Control Board had re-opened the abattoir because of pressure from certain sections and alleged that the government was trying to woo the Muslims by such a move.
They stated that after the abattoir was closed on August 6, there have been nine cases of illegal transportation of cattle and alleged that no repair works had been done at the venue during this time.
A memorandum was submitted to the Board officer Rajesh Kumar in this regard.
