Khaltse (Leh), Sep 17 (IANS): It was for the first time 10-year-old Angmo Chotun dug into succulent, crispy chicken made by a popular fast food chain in a primary school in this hamlet of Leh district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chotun, like many other inhabitants and fellow children of this village have seen advertisements of the fast food giant KFC, but for the first time they were able to taste it when the team members reached this place to launch a playground at this school - part of their #KFCWishBucket campaign.

For this initiative, KFC has joined hands with "17000 ft Foundation" - an organisation working with remote schools in the Leh district, to set up three playgrounds and one library.

They inaugurated their first playground in this school where their entire team served children, teachers and parents food and indulged in reading session with children.

"We never knew this campaign will become so popular. So when the foundation tweeted if we could help them set up playgrounds and a library, we agreed to do it immediately," Dhruv kaul, director marketing, KFC, told IANS.

"The idea was to reach out to the remotest village and serve them some happiness," he added.

According to Sonam Tashu, headmaster of the school, these children don't get many opportunities to interact with visitors, but an event organnised on a large scale does help them to open up.

And this is why Chotun was happy and relishing the rare treat KFC had offered these children who live at an altitude of 3,443 meters above sea level.
