Mangalore, Sep 28: KMC- Ashraya, a care centre for senior citizens, will observe World Elderly Day on Sunday October 1, said Kasturba Medical College dean Dr C V Raghuveer, while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday September 27.
A workshop on how to improve elderly care will be held at KMC here from 9 am to 12 noon. The programme will be inaugurated by district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty. MLA Yogish Bhat, ZP president Mamata D S Gatti, MAHE registration Dr Vinod Bhat are expected to attend the programme.
Talks will be delivered on various topics by leading doctors like Dr Pratibha Periera and Dr Elizabeth Daniel. Amitesh Narayan and Shobha Prabhu will talk on importance of physiotherapy and on legal issues respectively.
Celebrations will also be held at TMA Pai conventional centre here from 3 pm to 6 pm where in senior citizens and members of Ashraya, Abhaya, Prashant Nivas and Home for Little Sisters of Poor will present a cultural programme.
Deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, MAHE pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal, Karnataka Bank chairman Ananthakrishna and Corporation Bank executive director K L Gopalkrishna are expected to be the chief guests, Raghuveer informed.
Among those present at the press meet were Ashraya president M A Mohanan and members Ansooya Salian, B T Salian and K B Melanta.
