Two killed in Gaza blast

Gaza, Sep 19 (IANS): Two Palestinian men were killed and five others injured Friday afternoon when an undetonated Israeli bomb suddenly exploded in Sheja'eya neighbourhood in eastern Gaza city, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, the health ministry spokesman in Gaza, told reporters that Ayman Abu Jebba and Abdulla Abu Asser were killed and three others were injured in the explosion, Xinhua reported.

Witnesses said that an undetonated Israeli bomb was found near one of the destroyed houses in the neighbourhood and when the residents tried to move it away, it exploded, killing two and wounding three others.

On July 8, Israel launched a large-scale air and ground offensive on the Gaza Strip, which lasted 50 days, and killed 2,145 Palestinians and wounded 11,100 others.

The offensive on the coastal enclave ended based on a ceasefire agreement Egypt has brokered between Israel and Hamas-led militant groups.
