Kashmir relief: ITC, SSB, SRM varsity donate generously

New Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS): ITC chairman Y.C. Deveshwar Saturday donated Rs.10 crore towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said.

Sashastra Seema Bal chief B.D. Sharma donated Rs.2.12 crore on behalf of the force, while the founder chancellor of Chennai's SRM University, T.R. Pachamuthu, donated Rs.1 crore for the PMNRF, the statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appealed to the nation to contribute generously and to "stand shoulder to shoulder" with the distressed people of flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, from where 130,000 people have been rescued.

Srinagar is battling the worst floods in 60 years which have left thousands of people homeless.
