Maharashtra polls: Meeting underway to finalise Congress candidates

New Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS): A meeting of the Congress election committee is underway here to finalise candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.

The meeting is being held after the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi returned from the US, where she had gone for a medical check-up.

The Congress is expected to give 130 seats out of the 288 to its ally the NCP which got 114 seats in last assembly polls.

This time the NCP has sought equal sharing of seats after the Congress debacle in general elections.
