Kasargod: Chargesheet filed against six by NIA regarding fake currency

Kasargod, Sep 20: NIA has filed a chargesheet in the Cochin court against six suspects with regard to fake currency notes.

The chargesheet states that P P Abdul, resident of Chervathur Koolangod, Jabbar (41), Usman (34) resident of Bantwal, Abdul Jabbar’s wife Zubeida (40), Nasser alias Sappar Nasser (52) resident of Anangoor, Moidinabba Ummar Byari alias Moidin (40), resident of Udupi and Kannur’s Abdul Rehman(54) as suspects.

NIA chargesheet states that the suspects were involved in a large amount of fake currency supplied to Kasargod in July 2012. It is gathered through investigation the sixth suspect Moidin has supplied fake currency from abroad through second suspect Usman. Nearly Rs 31 lacs have been supplied via Bangalore airport on August 8, 2012. The cash was then supplied to Kasargod. The currency notes given by Abdul Jabbar after buying jewelry were said to be fake. The incident lead to further investigations revealing that the currency notes were brought to Kasargod from Dubai.
