Mangalore: Dasara Celebrations to be held from Sep 25 to Oct 5

Mangalore, Sep 20: "The preparations for ‘Mangalore Dasara 2014’ (Navaratri) organized by century old Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli are going on in full swing. The celebrations will be held from September 25 to October 05" said Harikrishna Bantwal, member of Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple Development Committee.

He was addressing press meet at temple auditorium here on Saturday September 20. He also said "On September 25 at 11.15 am, there will be installation of (pratisthapana) of idols of Sharada and Nava Durga simultaneously at Swarna Kalamantapa along with religious rituals. On this occasion Mayor Mahabala Marla and Urmila Ramesh Kumar will be present as guests.

"On September 27 at 6:30 pm, chief minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate Navarathri Mahothsava Mangalore Dasara-2014. Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary will preside on this occasion. There will be cultural programmes by renowned artistes at 6:00 pm everyday at Santhoshi Kalamantap. Dasara Shobha Yathra will be held from 4 pm on October 4th. The procession will pass from the main streets in the city which will be decorated with 20 lakhs colourful lights", he added.

Those organizations who wish to exhibit their tableau in procession should register their name in temple office before September 25th. On October 2nd there will Chandika Yagha. On October 3rd there will Mahanna Santharpana programme. This time Kerala Government have provided three tableau from their state'' he said.

H S Sairam, president, Kudroli Temple, Temple managing committee members Raghavendra Kulur, Padmaraj R, B K Tharanath, K Maheshchandra, B Devendra Poojary, Leelaksha Karkera, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present on this occasion.
