Paris, Sep 25 (IANS/EFE): France has invited Turkey to sit in on a meeting of European Union (EU) interior ministers in Paris Nov 6 to improve coordination in the fight against jihadi networks in Europe.

"It's a problem all European countries are facing," French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in an interview Thursday with the Europe 1 radio station.

Cazeneuve stressed that "insufficient coordination between French and Turkish services" was to blame Tuesday, when French authorities were unable to arrest three suspected jihadis who had been expelled from Istanbul.

The three men took a flight to Marseilles instead of Paris, where agents of the French secret service had been waiting for them after being tipped off by Turkish police.

The Turkish authorities did not report the last-minute change, an incident the French minister attributed to a lack of overall coordination between Turkey and the EU.

Cazeneuve will travel to Ankara Friday to discuss the issue with his Turkish counterpart, who has been invited to participate Nov 6 meeting.
