Margao, Aug 21: In a disturbing act of road rage in broad daylight, two brothers from Uttarakhand were violently assaulted by a group of men near the Old Hospicio building in Margao on Wednesday afternoon. The incident, triggered by a minor collision between two two-wheelers, escalated into a brutal attack that continued even inside a government health facility.

According to police reports, the situation turned violent when the victim, Rashid Ali, fled into the Margao Urban Health Centre seeking refuge. However, the assailants chased him into the building and, along with his brother Shakid Ali, beat them with fire extinguishers mounted on the walls.

Rashid Ali sustained serious head and body injuries and was rushed to South Goa District Hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable but requires continued medical attention.

Fatorda Police Inspector Nathan Almeida arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and confirmed that 4-5 suspects have been identified, with efforts ongoing to apprehend all involved. CCTV footage from the area and the health centre is being reviewed.

The incident has raised concerns over rising lawlessness in the region, marking the fourth serious crime in the Fatorda Police Station jurisdiction in recent weeks. Previous cases include a jewellery shop robbery attempt in Borda, a gang clash in Mungul, and an extortion case in Gogol.

Authorities have appealed for public cooperation in identifying the attackers and have assured strict action against those responsible for the violent assault.
