Bhagat Singh's sister passes away in Canada

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (IANS) : Parkash Kaur, the younger sister of revolutionary and freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, has died in Canada, a family member said here Monday.

Kaur, 96, was the only surviving member of the martyr's immediate family. She was living in Toronto.

Her son-in-law Harbhajan Dingh Dhatt, who lives near Hoshiarpur in Punjab, said Kaur passed away late Sunday.

Kaur, in recent years, had pursued the case of the killing of Kuljit Singh Dhatt, brother of her son-in-law, by Punjab Police in a staged shootout. The police officers involved were, earlier this year, convicted by a court.

Bhagat Singh has been one of the most influential revolutionaries in the Indian independence movement against the British rule.

He was awarded capital punishment for killing a British police officer in Lahore in 1928. He was hanged to death in March 1931.

The 107th birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh was celebrated Sep 28.

Bryan, what you don't get it?
Whom are you comparing to whom?

By saying this, you have insulted all those who gave their life for the nation.

During those days, countries wee ruled by foreign nations mostly British. It was a fight to get freedom for the Mother land. Out generation will never understand this. because we already have independence and it is only due to those Martyrs.

I hope you know what is the agenda of terrorists!!!!!!

We could not condemn British Verdict and pay homage to Late Bhagat Singh since we were not born on that time, at least friends we can now pay homage on his Sister’s death because she must felt proud being a Sister of Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh, Rajaramohan Roy, Taatya Tope, Sarojini Naidu, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Balgangadhar Tilak and so many others were freedom fighters. But focus of current PM was only on Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Wonder why...

Modi talks about all freedom fighters, though he has special affection towards Patel.

It is congis who knows one and only NEHRU family. They have forgotten even Mahatma Gandhiji.

It is because of Patel that post independent India is united. Nehru wanted to create another Muslim country Hyderabad. Today Hyderabad is in India because of Patel. Just think if never succeeded in his efforts...!
