Kanara Catholic Association of West Bengal celebrates Monthi fest


The Vibrant Konkani speaking community of Kolkata under the banner of Kanara Catholic Association of West Bengal celebrated the Nativity of our Lady on 14th September 2014 at Church of Christ the King . The mass was celebrated by Fr. Gregory Monteiro, Fr Franklin Menezes, Fr Hermil and Fr Henry Saldanha . The statue of Mother Mary was carried in procession , bedecked with flowers , as the children welcomed her with flower petals . Choir led by Mrs Pritham Machado , Mabel Sanctis and team sang the hymns in Konkani along with our own Bethany sisters. Fr Hermil gave a beautiful sermon on our Lady and her importance in our life. The mass was attended by both the laity and religious of different groups. Sugarcane was blessed and distributed to each family. The mass was followed by interaction among the members with lots of community games conducted by Donna Dsouza, Oscar Currie and Philomena Patra and with singing of the golden old Konkani medleys . Sumptuous lunch followed - Dukramas, Sannas, Vorn cooked by our own manglorean community which competed with Chicken, rice, dal and fries. The Kanara Catholic Association of West Bengal led by the President Mr Mark Pinto thanked the priests for the beautiful mass and to the entire gathering for celebration this beautiful day – befitting to our Mother Mary.

    I was Glad to read the content, see pics of priests whom i have seen two years before when I was in Kolkata. Thanks to Kanara Catholic association of kolkata for the wonderful celebration
