Beltangady, Oct 10: "The glorification of crime by mainstream media has its worst effects on the society.  Crime which has to be condemned by all has managed to get much hype and publicity, thanks to media.  Most of today's children have more liking to crime related programes and news than value-based programmes.  This would surely do go to no one in the long run," said Prof Satishchandra, principal of SDM College Ujire.

He was speaking after inaugurating "Mental Health Week" celebration at Indraprastha Auditorium at SDM College Ujire near here on Monday October 9. The programme was organized by the applied psychology department of the college.

Head of the department Dr M Y Manjula, dean of the PG section Prof Mahaveer, D E Mahabal Bhat, head of the Sanskrit department were also present on the occasion.
