Udupi, Oct 10: Brahmavar MLA K Jayaprakash Hegde has said that a weighbridge should be installed in Bellary instead of in Othinene here.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday October 9, he said that the weighbridge should be installed at the starting point for the ore-laden lorries, that is Bellary. He said that the problem can be controlled by strictly adhering to norms relating to loading of lorries.
The lorries entered the district after crossing other districts, therefore the roads and bridges in those districts must also be protected. He said that though the district in-charge minister V S Acharya had ordered the installation of the weighbridge at Othinene, work in this regard was yet to start.
He further said that the work on the Barkur bridge would be completed by November 1.
