Puttur, Oct 11: A plantation worker from Gundya near here was washed away in Gundya River while crossing at Addahole here on Monday October 9 evening.  His body was found on Tuesday October 10 at 2 kilometres' distance from the place of drowning.

Rangaswami (55), a native of Arasikere was an employee at Tata Cocoa Plantation.  On Monday evening he was returning to his house at Puleyarambu Kadavu when he was washed away by the strong current of the swollen Gundya River.

Though some locals who were present in the vicinity tried to rescue him, they could not.   Immediately, a group of nearly 15 men started search operation.  However, his body was found only on Tuesday morning near the Addahole bridge.

Rangaswami is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.  Nelyadi police have registered a case in this regard.
