Udupi: Thieves loot a house during ritual in temple

Udupi, Oct 4: Thieves broke into a house at Vasakangi Thotta, Mattadabettu Moodanibandooru, Udupi on Friday October 3 and decamped with gold ornaments and cash.

The theft was reported in the residence of Rathnakar Suvarna.

On Friday at around 11:00 am, Rathnakar and his family left for Bananje Narayana Guru temple to attend his mother's funeral. The theft came to light when they returned at 3:00 pm.

It is said that the thieves broke into the house by removing rear window. After opening the locker, the thieves decamped with a gold chain worth Rs 80,000, gold pendent with chain weighing four sovereign, two pairs of gold ear rings worth Rs 25,000, gold finger ring worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 2400 in cash, a total worth of Rs 1,97,400.

Udupi town police have registered a complaint.
