Bahrain, Oct 9: Bunts Bahrain celebrated their Bunts Sambrama (Food Festival) at The Indian Club Bahrain during Eid Holidays.

Dayanand Shetty, a noted Indian Film and TV actor who plays the role of Daya in CID was the chief guest. Prashanth Shetty (Chitra Mitra) artist, Harish Shetty, film and TV serial actor and Shanthram shetty, hotel owner at Shirdi were other guests welcomed at the main gate with Kumba Swagath followed by Chande. President Bharath Shetty welcomed all guests and escorted them to homely displayed food counters.

The programme began with a prayer song by Tejas followed by an invocation dance from Aastika Shetty. Artiste Chitra Mitra displayed his skill of art by drawing Ganapathy with single cord with black charcoal oil. Bharath Shetty escorted Daya Shetty, vice-president Sunil Shetty escorted Harish shetty followed by Prasanth (Chitra Mitra) Shantharam Shetty and rest of prominent gentlemen to the dais.
Children presented bouquets to all invited guests which was followed by lighting the lamp. Bharath Shetty welcomed the guests. Daya Shetty spoke about his life career in the film and TV industry. He was born in Katapadi village, Udupi district; his parents migrated to Mumbai, where he did his schooling and Commerce degree at Rizvi College Bandra. Tall and handsome actor with a height of 6’ 2” is a very good sportsman and was the champion of discus throw from the state of Maharashtra in the year 1994.

CID is an Indian crime detective series and Daya is one of the main characters who is often seen and became hugely popular for breaking doors. He also acted in Guntur, Gu, an Indian silent comedy serial. He participated in the famous dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Season 4), Khatron ke Kiladi (Season 5) and Rohit Shetty’s Singham Returns alongside actor Ajay Devgn; apart from being an actor, Daya Shetty is the owner of a restaurant in Mumbai and a hotel in Shirdi.

Harish Vasu shetty is graduate from Lala Lajpatrai College Mumbai University. His profession is a cine artist, mimicry artist and actor. He started acting in serials in 1996 and acted in many Hindi films such as 36 China Town, Mangaye Mugale Azam, Apaharan and Singham Returns. He acted in two Tulu films Telikada Bollie and Bangaradha Koral. He is one of the founders of Mahesh Tutorials and also the chairman of Mahesh PU College, Mangalore.

Prasanth Shetty, popularly known as Chitra Mitra was born in Mangalore. His dream was to be an artist. He was brought up in Mumbai; though his father was a hotel owner, he never used work in his father’s restaurant. His inspiration has always come from his daily life. He loves to create realistic pictures on Indian culture and mythology.

Santhosh Setty was born in Brammavara, Udupi. During his youth, he left to Mumbai and today owns a hotel in Shirdi. He has built Shri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple at Thane, is the chairman of Maha Ganapati Temple at Brammavara. He is also the treasurer of Muluand Bunts 2008-2009. He was awarded with the Arybatta Honour and the Maharashtra and Karnataka Governments awarded him for his services at various functions.

After the felicitation, there was a fashion show by Harini Shetty/Chitra Mitra. During the function, food festival judges were called for their sampling of food with results. All winners were given gifts and mementos.

Dance from Hema Akka and Tejas Prasanth's (Chitra Mitra) one hour performance was amazing. It was a beautiful charcoal painted photo of PM Modi which was later presented to Anand Lubo, president of Indian Club.

General secretary Doomanna Rai gave the vote of thanks. Prathim Shetty anchored the whole show. The show concluded with a Dandiya dance orgainised in a Navaratri style.
