  • Only Mumbai and Delhi are ahead of the happening city

Bangalore, Oct 17: Bangalore is the third largest employment base in the country, closely following Mumbai and Delhi.

TeamLease, the staffing solutions company which released the quarterly Employment Outlook Survey for October to December said the main driver for jobs will be the services and fast moving consumer goods sectors. Other sectors too are expected to increase their hiring this quarter.

The retail, media and finance management and customer service sectors stand at the top, in regard to jobs being created, with information technology and financial services following. Given that the economy is growing at over eight per cent annually, the survey suggests that companies in these sectors are likely to hire at a rate faster than the growth of business.

The reason may be the growth of sunrise sectors. It also reflects optimistic business growth projections.

According to V.G. Nirupama , Associate Director of Bangalore headquartered TeamLease, "The buoyancy in the market is incredible. With the Planning Commission report forecasting that 10 million people will be recruited every year, we will see unprecedented growth in the job market in the years to come.

This growth is across industry segments, geographic locations and job functions.''

Bulk of the recruitment is likely to be at the junior level (86 per cent of all jobs).

Hiring trends across job functions place marketing the highest at 31 per cent, followed by IT at 18 per cent, production at 17 per cent, finance and others (customer service, quality assurance and maintenance among them) at 11 per cent, administration at 8 per cent and human resources management at 4 per cent.

The survey which tracks the hiring expectations of the private sector, covered 490 companies across eight cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai.

The companies were in sectors such as retail, media, finance and management, infrastructure, manufacturing and engineering.
