New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS): Former India cricket captain Anil Kumble on his 44th birthday Friday became the latest public figure to join the Twitter bandwagon.
His appearance in the social networking site was welcomed warmly by his fans as his profile garnered over 3,000 followers and his first tweet was re-tweeted over 200 times.
"Finally on Twitter...& on a day that am a yr older and hopefully wiser! Looking forward...cheers," he wrote in his first tweet.
Former teammate and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to give the Indian spinner his best wishes.

He was 1996 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup's most successful bowler capturing 15 wickets from seven matches and is only the second bowler - after England's Jim Laker - to take all 10 wickets in a Test match innings.
Kumble was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour in 2005.
He announced his retirement from international cricket in 2008 after a career spanning 18 years.
He is currently the chairman of ICC's cricket committee.
