Bihar ministers shun computer training

Patna, Oct 22 (IANS): Only one-third of Bihar ministers Wednesday turned up for a day long training programme in computers, tablets and smart phones to ensure high tech-governance in the state, officials said.

"Only 10 of the 31 ministers have received training in computer and tablet operation. Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi attended it," an official of the IT department said.

According to officials, 21 ministers failed to turn up for the training. "Most of the ministers have not shown any interest to learn to operate computer, tablet and high-tech mobile," the official said.

After inaugurating the training workshop, Manjhi admitted that he was not fully aware of how to operate gadgets like computers, laptops and tablets. "I would try to learn myself," he said.

He advised his cabinet colleagues that they should be fully aware of IT and learn to operate gadgets. "All this will help us in governance."

"We are living in the IT and high-tech age when things are managed and controlled by it. If we lag behind then our country and state will be deprived of development," Manjhi said.

Manjhi said Bihar has registered more development in wi-fi in comparison to other states and the world's longest wi-fi zone had been established in Patna.
