Modi lauds teenager's efforts towards Kashmir flood relief

New Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday wrote a letter of appreciation to a Class 12 student for collecting Rs.2.15 lakh for rehabilitation of the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Duvvuri Rohini Pratyusha, a 16-year-old student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Kuwait, collected the amount by reaching out to Indian families after school hours.

In the letter, Modi said there was no cause greater and nobler than helping others, especially those caught in a moment of great adversity.

"The prime minister appreciated Pratyusha's leadership, organisational abilities and concern for the victims of the flood," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.

After collecting the money, Pratyusha handed it over to the Indian embassy in Kuwait to be sent to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
