Mangaluru: Alva's Nudisiri from Nov 14, eleven achievers to be honoured

Mangaluru, Nov 7: The 11th edition of Alva's Nudisiri 2014, a three-day literary extravaganza hosted by Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri will be held at Sundari Anand Alva campus of Alva's educational institutions in Moodbidri from November 14.

Chairman of Alva’s foundation Dr M Mohan Alva revealed the details about Alva's Nudisiri 2014 at Press Club, Mangaluru on Friday.

Alva told reporters that the organizers have selected 'Nadoja' Siddalingaiah, senior poet to preside over the literary deliberations of the entire event.

Siddalingaiah has given voice to the voiceless through his works, Alva said.




 

Na D'Souza ,senior writer and social activist, who chaired the 80th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held at Madikeri has consented to inaugurate the literary event, Alva added.

Alva also announced list of achievers for Alvas’s Nudisiri Awards 2014. This year the award will be conferred on 11 eminent personalities.

A total of 11 nominees namely Dr Sangamesha Savadattimatha, litterateur and researcher, Prof. Vasanth Kushtagi, renowned poet and columnist, Professor H S Shivaprakash, researcher & professor, S Shettar, historia,Dr Malathi Pattanashetty, Poet & story writer, T S Nagabharana actor and director, Professor Heranje Krishna Bhat Sanskrit scholar, Banandoor Kemmpaiah, folk scholar and singer, Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhyay,Yakshagana artiste, Dr Vasundhara Doreswamy,veteran dance guru, Ashwatha Baburaya Acharya, renowned sculptor have been chosen for their immense contribution in various fields, Alva said.
