Udupi, Nov 7: District-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake heard public grievances at Janata Darshan, held for the first time in Udupi district, at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Rajathadri, here on Friday, November 7.
People discussed with minister about land disputes, conversion and simplification of rules on house construction for Koraga community in the forum.
An ex-army personnel named Rathnakar Samanth said that he got a piece of land 30 years back after his service to the nation. He planted cashew, mangoes and coconut trees in the gifted land but now the forest department had encroached in his land partially under certain act. He alleged that survey number of his land has been changed by the surveyor. At present, he is living in rented home in Manipal.
Heggunje panchayat president alleged that a person called Umesh Shetty was running an illegal stone mining at Shiroor village. The new DC Vishal promised to send concerned department to the spot and sort out the problem.
Benedict Neronha complained about delay in making RTC and spelling correction in records which were evident in RTC and other documents.
A Muslim community in Kundapur requested for a burial ground for five villages where 300 families lived. DC said he would solve the problem on priority.
A person named Honnayya requested the minister to arrange a free check up for Chennamma who belonged to Malekudiya community. Minister’s reply to this matter was very positive.
There were more than 45 petitions received from Udupi Taluk and eight from Kundapur.
People also said that whole of Karnataka state was facing lack of CDP officials. Public also complained that some were purchasing land from SC/ST in low price and selling the land at a whopping price.
Bujanga Shetty objected and demanded for simplification in record making process.
Pramodh Madhwaraj, MLA Udupi, stressed to effectively implement CM’s ‘Tracking and simplification policy’ and said if files increased in future, it would lead to corruption.
The newly appointed DC Vishal gave many suggestions and sorted out some issues on the spot.
Kanagavalli, district CEO, Rajendra Prasad, SP Udupi Kumar and additional deputy commissioner among others were present on the occasion.
