Doha: KMCA celebrates Rajyotsava with traditional fervour

Doha, Nov 8: Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA), an affiliated organization to Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Embassy of India, State of Qatar, celebrated the 59th Karnataka Rajyotsava by organizing an event for the kannadigas in Doha, Qatar at Al-Maha Academy for Boys- Ain Khalid, on Friday, November 7.

The registration began at 5 pm and the event started at 5:45pm. The stage programme started with recitation from the holy Qur'an by master Bilal Ahmed Assadi followed by translation in English by master Nidal Shaikh. Mudassar Ahmed Shaikh and Hafize Mohammed compered the event.

Chief guest, K M Varghese, the newly elected president of IBPN, was led to the stage by KMCA president Niyaz Ahmed. The star-artiste of the evening, Indushree, a world famous ventriloquist, was escorted to the stage by KMCA vice-president Saquib Raza Khan.

KMCA general secretary Ibraiz Khan escorted the other artistes for the evening, the Kannada comedy duo Y Gundu Rao and N Ramanath.

In keeping with the KMCA tradition, a token in cash, along with bouquet, was presented on behalf of the guests, to KMCA special needs coordinator Iqbal Manna who then handed over the same to the newly elected president of ICBF (Indian Community Benevolent Fund) Arvind Patil.

The president Niyaz Ahmed greeted the guests and the gathering then Manjunath introduced the felicitations for the evening.

To recognize and honour the unsung heroes of Karnataka, KMCA flew in Devaraju S R, the ambulance driver from BGS Global Hospital in Kengeri who helped in safe transport of a heart for a transplant operation to take place in Chennai, raced his part of the six-hour tight programme of 47.5 Kms from Kingeri to KIA (Kempegowda International Airport) in a record time of 45 minutes. Devaraj was escorted to the dias by KMCA joint secretary Mujeeb & KMCA Ladies wing coordinator Syed Ashfaq.

Devaraj was felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais and KMCA executive committee Divakar Pujari, an avid social worker and a prominent Kannadiga personality, known for his selfless demeanour towards the larger Indian community residing in Qatar. He was also felicitated during the evening.

Chief guest K M Varghese addressed the gathering and congratulated the Kannadiga community on the 59th Karnataka Rajyotsava. He emphasized the importance of keeping the rich cultural heritage alive among the expat community residing in Qatar. He also commended the activities conducted by the community organization of Karnataka origin and suggested that a common platform should be made to have a joint agenda which could make a huge impact in the expat forum.

KMCA Lady's wing distributed the prizes to the winners of the Explore Karnataka quiz competition held on October 31 as a precursor to Rajyotsava celebration. Ruksana Shaikh compered the segment and was helped by Aisha Rafique and Reshma Banu.

The quiz masters Arun Kumar and Milan Arun gave away the prizes in two categories. The winners received a trophy, certificate and a book on Karnataka. All participants received a participation certificate and a book each on Karnataka. The husband and wife team were presented with a token of appreciation for their enthusiasm and support to KMCA by president Niyaz Ahmed.

The KMCA annual Souvenir, ‘Pragati’ in its second issue 2014, was released during the event. Editor-in-chief and KMCA PR Ahmed Saeed Assadi presented the first copy to the dignitaries on the dais and KMCA executive committee and lady’s wing. The souvenir was thereafter distributed in the gathering.

KMCA joint secretary Mohammed Mujeeb proposed vote of thanks.

The stage was well decorated for Indushree to mesmerize the gathering with her ventriloquism and she did a fantastic job. The children were all on the floor in front of the stage and the adults were jumping off their chairs in awe.

She presented the talking White Board, The Old Man Venky and The SmartHat Dinku. The three part presentation was filled in humour and comedy by the duo Y Gundu Rao and N Ramanath who kept the crowd entertained with mixed Kannada and Hindi jokes and adapted songs.

The celebration concluded at 9 pm much to the yearning of the children for more from Indushree. Karnataka based association president Rav Shettty TSQ, Deppak Sheety KSQ, Prakash Chandra Ajiila, Billawas, Alexis Castelino MCC sports secretary, Abdul Majid, SKMWA presented the memento to Indushree.

KMCA president and executive committee expressed their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the sponsors and supporters of KMCA namely, Euro Parts, Golden Trading, SBMK, National Waterproofing, Proscape, ALM, QDC, EMCO, BIPS, QCON, Group 3 and many others. The president expressed his humble thanks to the various community leaders who graced the occasion and enjoyed the celebrations. He in a special manner thanked Ravi Shetty, Ramchandra Shetty, Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Sunil, Abdul Majeed Hydros, Ibrahim Beary, Prakash Ajila, Seetharama Shetty, Divakar Poojary, Alexis Castelino, Iqbal Manna. The president also thanked KMCA logistics coordinator Ismail Aboobacker and team for preparing the stage and venue.

    Congratulations to KMCA President Mr.Nayaz Ahmed,Committee Members and all the selfless volunteers for the success of the event. Also congratulations to our friend Mr.Divakar Poojary for being felicitated for his outstanding community service.
    In addition to the celebration and entertaning program ,identifying ,inviting and honoring unsung heroes like Ambulance driver Devaraju is truly a great noble thought and deserves special words of appreciation.

    Dear Team KMCA

    Congrats on conducting another historical celebration at Qatar. Missed the fun. Having relocated to Dubai, was not able to attend the celebrations. But hats off to Mr. Niyaz and his team for the fantastic arrangements. It can be a seen i the photographs posted. Being a former Excom i can read the pics and the hard work that has gone into making of this celebrations.
    Fantastic concept. Best of luck.

    Many congratulations to KMCA President Mr. Niyaz Ahmed and the KMCA utive Committee on a successful event.
    A good gathering of kannadigas in Qatar.
    Excellent entertainment suitable for all ages by Ms. Indushree.
    A noble gesture of recognising hardwork of Ambulance Driver Devaraj and community activist Mr. Divakar Pujari.
    Fantastic pre-event Children's Quiz competition and congratulations to the winners.
