Mangalore: Nov 4: With St Aloysius College winning the Team Dressing Event at Spandana, the International Student Social Workers' Symposium organized by School of Social Work here on Saturday, curtains lowered on this mega event.

While Sri Dharmastala Manjunateshwara College Ujire won the second place, the Big Fight (debate contest) ended in a tie were all the six participants were given prizes.

 

On Saturday, former Judge of the Supreme Court and former Lok Ayuktha of Karnataka Justice N Venkatachala gave away the prizes and also the participant certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, he called the press to bring to light all the erring government officers and their wrong deeds so that the public may be aware of the intensity of the crime.

 

Venkatachala who was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the student fraternity lauded the college for organizing the event giving ample opportunity for the young minds to grow.

 

“It is a home coming,” said deputy director of HIVOS India Regional Office Reena Fernandes who is the alumni of the college and also the chief guest for the valedictory function.

 

On the occasion the news letter of the symposium was also released.

The three day event had 22 colleges participating including students from Volda University, Norway, St Aloysius College, Srinivas College, SDM Ujire, Roda Mistry College, Hyderabad, Rajagiri College, Cochin, Our Lady of Lakes, Texas, Meridian College Mangalore, Lorven Education Centre, Bangalore, Lissah College, Canada, Christ College Don Bosco, Catho University, Belgium and many more.

 

Principal of the college Dr Jacinta D’Souza, Sunni president of the college, Sherly Rasquinha, secretary and Ronald Sequeira, faculty co-ordinator were also present on the occasion.
