Mumbai, Nov 5: The Board of Cricket for Cricket in India (BCCI) were to inaugurate their brand new headquarters on Saturday.

Their office which was at CCI earlier and was barely 500 Sq ft will be replaced by a spanking four storey building at Wankhede Stadium near Vinoo Mankad gate. The new office will be inaugurated by the hands BCCI President Sharad Pawar, just before the announcement of BCCI awards.

First two floors of the building belong to BCCI while the upper two floors is reserved for Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). On the 1st Floor, there is a conference room where 60 people can be accommodated, a museum (6000 Sq ft) and alongside is auditorium where 80 people can be accommodated. Although both Museum and Auditorium will be not completed on time and will take a while till it is finally done.

On 2nd floor BCCI administrative and office staff will function from there. While on the 3rd floor administrative staff of MCA will take a seat. The last floor is reserved for Mumbai Cricket’s museum and a 2000 sq ft Banquet hall.
The glorious construction is done by BG Shirke & Company and its architect was Mr Sashi Prabhu. The total expenses for constructio cost them around 12 crore out of which 8 crore were given by BCCI.

“The brand new BCCI office is almost done and will start functioning in less than a month. We for several years had a small office at CCI which wasn’t sufficient for us to function properly so that’s the reason we choose ‘Wankhede’, a cricket atmospheric place”, said Professor Ratnakar Shetty, Treasurer of MCA and tournament director of ICC Champions Trophy.

This new office will improve the reputation of the reachest board of the world, it was a bit uncomfortable that a board which had everything in its kitty is functioning from such a small place. And this step will certainly improve their reputation and make them more professional.
