Do not discourage the Blood Donors with the loose comments like wastage. We can not predict the requirement of Blood accurately. That does not mean we should not have sufficient stock in the case of contingency. Voluntary donating blood once a year do not cost any thing to the donor but may lead to saving of lives if and when necessary. Expired blood cells need to be destroyed with respect scientifically.

1st dey plead4 donation,thru various ads dey repeatedly said donating=2 saving life.NOW look wat dey do!!!throwing away da very thing dat cud save life!!y didnt dey transferred such a precious life line2 oder place where it was dearly needed?y dey waited till 35th day?how dat noble donor might feel seeing his blood going down da drain.

Blood donation is good work of people, to give life to a person who is in risk. Instead of conducting camps,and collecting such a lot of samples and destroying it later, collect the names of the donors and contact them when the need arises.

This is un believable and unfortunate that Donated Blood goes a waste. Few poor patients who need blood, are made to run from pillar to pole to get blood as Formalities for same is too many. Here generous donors donate blood to save life & it's being wasted is un-acceptable. From my experience, Blood Banks are apprehensive to give blood though they have got it free and also there are charges a patient needs to pay, even though blood is free.
Apathy of the Officials concerned has resulted in such a disaster. These blood units could have been sent to needy hospitals or so, instead of wasting. D.C. Should take appropriate action so that these lazy officials should face music of higher up officials and these incidents do not repeat.

The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout India. Also there are organization which helps to get blood to needy they are Friends2support and Sankalp India Foundation. Having these organization and red cross branches what made them waste these units of blood.? Then why they conduct blood donation camp? Why they allow.? Does incineration requires ADC's permission?.

It is really a painful to destroy collected blood from the donors.Blood is of course precious,which saves many lives.But when we go for collecting blood in necessity blood bank people will act funny.No stock,not now,come tomorrow,bring one man to replace it etc etc.But in reality when blood is being destroyed,how the donors might feel?Wonder,so wonderful.Some stringent action to be taken by the concerned authorities to ensure that this incident will not be repeated again in future.So Sad.

Here nothing to say.Mismanagement to the top.Why if at all they collected blood when they dont Need?They know the blood cant be stored for Long,then they could have used it otherway,like to seperate Serum and store it as other labs or blood Banks do.what a misuse of valueable Gold of a human being.Looks like mangaluru Need no blood at all.Otherside People sometimes die when there is no blood,dont operate when no blood is there.contrast and waste of so many blood Units.Atleast they could have told People to be ready when required and donate.

Majority of blood donors are either O positive or B positive group.

Now a days our communication system improved and Blood banks can get the phone numbers of the blood donors and call the to donate blood as and when the blood is necessary or their stock of particular group of blood reduced substantially.The organisers of the blood camps can find from blood banks whether they really need the blood for immediate use.If not they can send the donors to the blood bank as and when required.

Sometime back when I had gone to Lady Goschen Hospital to volunteer, they had politely refused to take it as they had excess of stuff. On the same day, UMC (KMC) near Jyoti Circle took it. UMC charges Rs.800/1200 to receivers depending on replacement/volunatary donation. That things have gone bad means we have not built a holistic network system to match demand-supply requirement. Enthusiasm is fine, but end use is also equally important.

In fact if we consult a Physician in confidence he will certainly tell you that operations can be done without the intake of blood. Our body does not accept foreign blood so easily and if you consult a doctor he will tell you more on this.

Its indeed very sad to hear. The precious life saving blood is disposed, the simple reason is that it is surplus and expired. In 35 days these surplus blood could have reached the needy at any part of our country or at least any other hospitals in our state with proper technology to preserve and transport. This require an innovative thinking and support from the NGO and the Govt. It is also noticeable that now people are more aware of blood donation, where way back in 1999 when we used to conduct voluntary blood donation camps with few student representatives at Mangalore colleges (we have collected 90 units) and many local people are hesitate to come forward to donate voluntarily.

Several people in the world die because they cannot afford to buy such a precious item. Unfortunate that here in our place it is discarded, sending a wrong message to donors.

I am sure 35 days is a long enough period to find out who actually require it most than leaving it carelessly to expire.
