Mangalore, Nov 6: The Puttur unit of CPI (M) has decided to stage rail-roko at Kabaka Puttur railway station on Saturday November 11 to urge the government to restore passenger rail traffic on Mangalore-Bangalore route, informed CPI (M) spokesman Satishan.
Speaking about the proposed Mangalore-Hassan passenger train service, he said that the railway line which was made in to broad gauge a few months ago was opened only for goods train. He accused the officials of giving false promises about the commencement of passenger train service.
The rail-roko will focus on the demand for passenger rail service between the city and Bangalore, he said.
