Udupi: BJP demands reduction in bus fare

Daijiworld Media Network-Udupi(HB)

Udupi, Nov 10: The activists of District Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest , near clock tower, service bus stand Udupi on Monday demanding the state government to bring down the bus fares of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) including private buses.

Uday Kumar Shetty, Udupi District BJP leader, said that the price of crude oil in the international market has been reduced and the Union government has also reduced the diesel and petrol prices. On August 31, 2014, diesel price was Rs. 64.02 per liter, but recently it has been reduced to Rs 57.89. The price has come down for the sixth time in recent past.

The State government has not reduced the bus fares accordingly, he alleged. He demanded to bring down the bus fares within one week and help the people of the state. Otherwise district BJP will go for massive protest in the state level, he said.

He also said that the transport minister Sri Ramalinga Reddy should take an appropriate decision in this regard.

Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, Uday Kumar Shetty and other members cleaned the Udupi Service Bus stand area during the protest.

Katapady Shankar Poojary, Shyamala Kundar state secretary, Sandhya Pai, and BJP panchayat members were symbolically shouted slogans in front of a KSRTC bus.

Bus Rate History (Vittal To Mangalore )
    2013 - Rs 24.00
2013 to 14 after Increasing diesel rate Rs. 34.00
2014 after decreased diesel rate (rs.7.00) Rs. 34.00 same rate.
Suppose diesel rate increasing same old rate (i.e Rs. 7.00), bus rate may be increasing Rs. 34 to Rs. 38. This is the reality in hiking bus rate. From vittal to Kalladka 10-12Km, but bus rate Rs.18.00 suppose passenger give Rs.20.00, balance Rs.2.00 also not giving conductor. Devere gathi for passengers.

Since BJP has come to power the petrol rates and Diesel rates have been bought down considerably..... But with regard to State transport. The State Government has not bought down the ticket rates. Tomorrow One Rupee increase in the petrol rate. Ticket rates will also increase considerably.

State Government has to cut the ticket rates of both BMTC and KSRTC with immediate effect.

    Remember people have become wise....

I am not supporting or belonging to any particular political party. This is my opinion I am airing through this column. The protest organized by BJP or any other party is worth demanding the genuine reduction of bus fare. When the marginal or fractional increase in petrol/diesel is observed KSRTC and private bus owners are ready to increase the fare but now they are not ready to reduce but adamant.I support this protest.Because this is genuine protest.

The demand is legitimate. When fuel price rises, travel fare increases. So, when fuel price fall, travel fare should decrease. But, they should also demand the same in BJP ruled states.

Being the gravity power is a powerful force, free, abundant and 24/7, more than 90% of air pollution from vehicles can be eliminated, 80% of fuel consumption can be ped, 70% of running and maintenance costs can be reduced, 60% of manufacturing costs of vehicles can be reduced, 50% of spare parts demand can be curtailed and hence the surface transport cost can be drastically reduced to a unbelievable level, with a slight change in the historic concept.
