Mangalore, Nov 6: Construction workers of the city staged protest demanding the construction workers' national charter of demands on Monday November 6 morning. The protest was held in front the of the deputy commissioner's office here.
The protestors demanded the implementation of central legislation for construction workers in all state and union territories, full wages as per skill, allocation of more funds for infrastructure development in all sectors, provision of housing facilities for all construction workers and supply of cheaper construction materials.
They also demanded the administration to stop 100% FDI in construction industry, free medical facilities, no privatization of any Public Sector Construction company, preventing the entry of MNCs in Indian Construction Industry, abolishing the bonded labour in the construction industry etc.
