Madrid, Nov 11 (IANS): Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has said he has no intention of returning to coach the club.
Guardiola, who is now at Bayern Munich, assured he would not be back in the dugout of the club where he grew as a player and had four successful years as coach, reports Xinhua.
"In principle, I will not coach Barcelona again," he said Tuesday.
"I think that there are cycles in life and my cycle there has finished," the 43-year-old added, who ended his four years at the club exhausted and took a sabbatical for a year out to recover before signing for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013.
Between 2008 and 2012, Guardiola led Barca to three Primera Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, two King's Cups, the Spanish Supercup on three occasions, as well as two European Supercups and two World Club Championship titles, and during that time Barca were considered perhaps the best club side in the history of the game.
The club ended last season trophyless under Gerardo 'Tata' Martino and now struggling for form under new coach Luis Enrique, leaving nostalgic fans longing for the return of Guardiola.
But he has said he won't be tempted to accept the challenge again.
Although he ruled out a return to manage the club, Guardiola said he would one day return to live in the city.
"My wife has work there and the idea is to stay and live here. When will that be? I don't know," he admitted.
