Mangaluru: Speeding biker dies in accident near Tannirbavi

Mangaluru, Nov 11: In a tragic accident, a youth lost his life when his bike hit a heap of stones on the road and dashed into the wall of a house near Krishna Bhajana Mandir road, on Chitrapur-Tannirbhavi stretch here on Tuesday, November 11 at 8.30 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Naga Reddy (24), a resident of Sindur in Raichur. He was working as a security guard at APMC in RK factory, Mangaluru.

He was riding from Baikampady towards Chitrapur when the accident took place.

It is said that high speed caused the accident. After hitting the heap of stones, he fell over and hit the wall of a house. He died on the spot.

Suratkal police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A case is yet to be registered.

    Road near Thannirbavi is straight and smmoth. Many biker tend to overspped here causing accidents. I think they must make the road a little bit rough to prevent these accidents. Feeling sad for the lost young life.

    The biker is at fault and it is sad that he lost his life.But to cut the long story short, the authorities should take one look at the roads of Mangalore which are pathetic in some areas. One road worth mentioning is the road opposite the head postoffice Pandeshwar ( Forum mall) which is filled with pot holes and to make matters worse, there are vehicles parked on both sides of the road and a number of petty shops adds to the woes of people. Its a punishment to drive on such roads and accidents are bound to happen. Good roads and proper traffic regulation is teh need of the hour.

    Mangalore has fairly good transport facility. But there are as many bikes on the road too. I wish people really evaluated the TIME and CONVENIENCE a bike provides, versus the safety and take mass transport more.

    It is heartbreaking to hear young speeding bike riders die. The agony is all the more for the parents who lose their dear ones at an early age. Hope wisdom prevails in our youngsters to value their live dearly and not be reckless. The speeding mania is all the more when a girl is in the pillion. No amount of road safety measures by the authorities can prevent such accidents. It is for the rider to choose between life and death. Yes, at times a cautious rider can be hit by another reckless driver. In most cases it is reckless speeding by youngsters that is the cause.

    Two wheelers with or without helmets are a strict NO NO in this part of the world, probability of dying or getting maimed for life are the highest!!!

    Road accidents within Mangalore City and the outskirts are on the increase. Under the circumstances, hope a viable strategy will be arrived at to keep these accidents under control.

    I have no doubt that the police are taking these events seriously and considering ways and means to keep situation under control.
