Bengaluru, Nov 12: After Anna Bhagya and several other schemes with Bhagya nomenclature to woo the people, the Siddaramaiah ministry has decided to embark upon "Namma Grama, Namma Rasthe" programme in 189 rural assembly constituencies of Karnataka.

Under the new programme approved by the State Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday, 20 kms of roads in each of the 189 rural assembly constituencies of the State are proposed to be developed.

The estimated cost of the three phase road project is Rs 2079 crore.

Briefing reporters after the State Cabinet meeting decisions, Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said 3780 km of roads would be developed in 189 constituencies.

As per the 2008-13 Textile policy, he announced grant of an investment subsidy of Rs 7 croreapproved for M/s PrecotMeridien Ltd, a textile company to be set up at Special Economic Zone in Hassan district. The company would provide jobs to 600 persons.

Rs 9,000 per hectare Compensation to Onion Growers

Following crash in prices of onion, the State government has decided to provide compensation of Rs 9,000 per hectare to growers in five districts of Chitradurga, Davanagere, Gadag, Dharwad and Bellary.

Jayachandra, who also heads a Cabinet sub-committee on commodity prices, said the crop on estimated 40,000 to 50,000 hectares was been damaged owing to erratic rains.

As per the Central norms, compensation has been fixed at Rs 4500 per hectare.
The State Government has decided to pay an additional Rs 4,500 per hectare and provide compensation amount totallingRs 9,000 per hectare to growers, he said.

The compensation would cost the State exchequer Rs 40 crore.

Onion crop was grown on 85,046 hectares in five districts and the expected production was over 10 lakh tonnes.

The State Government has procured the commodity in 2011-12 and incurred loss of Rs 45 crore, he said.

What about Namma Ooru Manga luru. We have granted with only power projects to light the other cities. Educated district people have to go all over the world for job. No minister, MP or MLA so far has done justice to the undivided coastal district. What ever we are it is our own effort.

Regardless of political affiliation we should lend support to the development works initiated by whichever govt or party unlike our pseudos. On a lighter note siddu is free to sleep in namma grama but I am afraid he may fall asleep in namma rasthe. Jossey , Ismail , bannur should follow him and should make it sure he doesn't do it.

Take up infrastructure projects for the betterment of state and people of our state.
Or else, Industries and job opportunities will move out of the state.
It is a era of competition and survival of the toughest.
