Mangalore, Nov 8: The district cops conducted two raids on gambling centers here in the district and have arrested a total of 20 persons involved in gambling.

On Nov 5, the a police team consisting of Anantha Padmanabha PSI Kavoor police station and staff conducted a raid on a public place near Brahmha Lingeshwara Temple Ananda Nagara Kavoor village Mangalore Taluk.

At the time of raid the police found 8 persons gambling. A sum of Rs 7,750 and playing cards were seized from the spot and Suresh (49), Ravi Shetty (50), Babu (47), Mohan Nair (48), Vikram B (45), Mohan (42), Udaya U.P (43) and Manoj (33) arrested.

In another operation, the District Crime Investigation Bureau arrested 13 persons. Led by inspector T B Rajanna, the team raided a gambling den in Bantwal arresting 13 persons.

A sum of Rs 1800 has been confiscated from them. The den was operating in Kukkaje in Manchi village. Kishor, Ibrahim, Abbas, Hameed, Ibrahim, Abdul Siddique alias Abbu, Mohan, Kunhimonu, Lathif, Khadar, Ignatius D’Almeida, Sujit Pais and Robert D’Souza have been arrested.
