End violence, be part of democracy: Rajnath to Maoists

Gurgaon, Nov 13 (IANS): Home Minister Rajnath Singh Thursday urged Maoists to end violence and be part of democracy for the betterment of India and its people.

Rajnath Singh was speaking as the chief guest during the 75th Raising Day of the paramilitary Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) here.

The minister said there was no place for Maoist violence in the country.

"Maoists must say no to violence and be part of democracy to resolve all issues," he said.

"Left-wing extremism has no place in democracy. Even China is not following the theory of Maoism any more, so Maoists in India must come forward for talks with the government," he said.

Rajnath Singh lauded the role of CRPF personnel in tackling the Maoist issue.

CRPF Director General Dilip Trivedi and other officers were present at the celebration ceremony held at the CRPF camp in Kadarpur, seven km from Gurgaon.

Some CRPF personnel were also honoured for their bravery.
