Moodbidri, Nov 8: Alva's Education Foundation will host 'Alva's Ekalavya Sports Fest', a state-level sports meet for primary, high school, and PUC students from December 7 to December 10.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday November 8, Dr Mohan Alva, founder president, Alva's Education Foundation, informed that as many as 19 colleges from across the state are expected to participate. Winners will be awarded cash prizes ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 1000. About 5,000 students are expected to participate in the sports meet. The selected ones will represent the state at the national-level.  About 450 competitions will be held at the event.

On Saturday November 11, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao will release the sports emblem at a programme organized here. The sports sticker will be released by former minister Amarnath Shetty. MLA Abhayachandra will preside over the programme.

The emblem will be brought in a procession from Betakeri to Swaraja Maidan escorted by more than 30 school bands, Alva said.
