Being poor is not an excuse to dump a gift of God. If they would have been good parents they would appealed for help in forums like DW. They should be identified and put behind bars. They have no right to live outside if they can not look after their own children

It is not pre Independence times, The Patient cannot get admitted unless Address and Working Phone number is given, But if Fake numbers are given along with fake address, it becomes difficult to trace the person. In any cse it becomes a crime and the Parents abandoning a poor child like that is Heartless.... The Parents must be finding it difficult to cope with the child, But that does not justify doing this.

One officer in my company had a mentally retarded child. When they wanted to plan for the 2nd, the couple wrote a letter to a famous doctor in New York to find out whether their 2nd child would be normal. Doctor wrote to them saying there is no conclusive study in the world to indicate whether anybody's child would be normal. He also wrote, the chances of them getting a normal child is same like any child in the total population. (Later, they got normal child). Since, the thing is like that, naturally, govt has to take the responsibility if the parents are unable to deal with such a child. There are so many organizations in India for looking after such children, some are from Blessed Mother Theresa. One, Manasa, in Udipi District also caters to such children. That doctor also wrote, however, if the family or parents have or had mental problems, such parents getting a mentally retarded child is higher.

This child should be taken care of by some organisation. Also advisable to inform Mody about it so that he will curtail some expenses on his foreign tour and help poor people of our country.

Our Politicians for the last 67 years r promising to alleviate poverty. They have not even succeeded to eradicate 50% of poverty in these years. Whereas many of these Corrupt Politicians became Crore pathis by pocketing almost all money meant for social welfare schemes for the poor.

Mentally challenged children are not the responsibility of parents alone. As it is not their fault state also should take equal responsibility to take care of them especially when parents are poor.
