Kasargod, Nov 19: Three tigers have reportedly made an appearance at Katukukke near Perla in the district, giving rise to jitters among the people living in the area. Since the last two to three days, paw marks of some tigers are being sighted in the areas around this village.

A few forest officials were deputed to the area after panicky people called the forest department. Although the officials made efforts to locate the whereabouts of the felines, they did not succeed in their task. However, a person claimed that he saw three tigers roaming around together near Katukukke Arakkady, adding to the worries of the locals.

Kunhiraman, who saw the three tigers together, said that two tiger cubs were spotted with one adult tiger. Several persons have deserted their houses to stay with relatives some distance away, because of the fear of having to encounter wild animals.

In the meantime, a forest officials' team led by range forest officer M K Narayanan, has kept a close watch over this area to track movement of the tigers which have remained elusive till now. The forest officiais, it is gathered, have decided to set up a trap for catching the tigers.
